We went away for the weekend. It was high time for a short break, so we spent the weekend on the island of Schiermonnikoog, which is named after its first known owners, the monks of Klaarkamp Abbey, a Cistercian monastery on the mainland. [Wikipedia]
We actually bumped into a couple of monks. Seems a small cluster (or is it herd?) of Trappist monks from an abbey in Overijssel, are looking for a new (and smaller) place to settle. So after 400 years Schiermonikoog might have resident monks again. Hope they brew great beer. :-)
